“our longtime jamming pal Andrew Woods (WEGO, Neon Brown) was in town from Seattle for a few days & did us the honor of being our guitar guest for this entire set, an hour fifteen worth!  it took us a few minutes to find our relative comfort zones, but it didn’t hurt the music any, which just builds & builds throughout.  wonderful long jams as early as the first tune, & more & more architectural outside spaces as we move along.  all our chemistry is tidal by the end.”

SETLIST:
Speaking Through You, Kipple, Emergency Procedure, Ten Of Wands, Bats In Space, Jose Pedro, How Long Has That Been Going On?, Om Clover Blvd Meow, Speaking Through You (Reprise), Dissolving Faces, Lumpy Beanpole & Dirt

We’ll play TWO sets for you on June 1st at the cryptozoologically appellated BIGFOOT LODGE in Atwater, Los Angeles, CA, Earth.  (Not to be confused with the entomological anomaly known as BUGFOOT).  Interspersed with a set of Jewish-shark-attack brilliance from BUBBELEH.  Poster art alchemy by Jack Dondanville.

ethos

“It is the artist’s duty to be alive
To drag people into glittering occupations
To assume the ecstasy in all conceivable attitudes
To blush perpetually in gaping innocence
To drift happily through the ruined race-intelligence
To burrow beneath the subconscious
To defend the unreal at the cost of his reason
To obey each outrageous impulse
To commit his company to all enchantments.”

          ~ Kenneth Patchen

Having a Zappa in the seventies vibe, the wonderfully named “Catastrophic Molt” is the latest release from The Walking Faces, a two piece combo featuring Rumbles regular 5-Track (guitar bass, vocs) and Patrick Lenon (drums). Clocking in at just 27 minutes, not a moment of that time is wasted as angular guitar riffs and melodic vocal lines jostle for position, the music inventive and engaging throughout. Highlights include the Fusion inspired “Jose Pedro” and the more experimental “Cat and Bird”, but really the whole thing rolls together perfectly, creating a half hour well spent.

a gentle & lovely review from Terrascope Online. thanks!

Lestat’s Speaking Into Bats

This clip features Josh Charney special-guesting on keys. Isn’t he wonderful? Hopefully he’ll be back for more soon, cos this was fun.
